HAMMERLINE OPPORTUNITY INTELLIGENCE / RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

How an opportunity is researched, labelled and retired.

This page explains where Hammerline Opportunity Intelligence records come from, how we separate what the record says from what we think it means, how long an opportunity stays useful, and what we will never claim.

1. Sources: official public records, attributed.

Every opportunity starts from an official public record published by a government agency: for example health-department inspections and permits for new food-service openings, NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) Housing Maintenance Code violations and building registrations, NYC Department of Buildings and Environmental Control Board (DOB/ECB) violations, Philadelphia Licenses and Inspections (L&I) code violations, city property records and state business-entity filings. Each record is attributed to the agency that published it, with the record date and a source link or reference you can open yourself. If we cannot attribute the trigger to an official source, it does not become an opportunity.

Contact paths come from the business’s own public channels (its website, listed business phone or general email) or from official filings such as property registrations, and are labelled with where they came from.

2. Field-level provenance.

Provenance is recorded per field, not per record. The business identity, the location, the trigger, its date, the contact path and the decision maker (where one is named) each carry their own source and label, so you can see which parts of a record are documented and which are not.

3. Fact vs. our inference vs. unknown.

We label every statement as one of three things. Our inference is always presented as ours and is never phrased as the business’s request, interest or intent.

Fact

What the public record says.

The event, its date and the official source it came from, such as a health-department inspection or a city building violation. You can check it yourself.

Our inference

Why it may be a selling opportunity.

Our reasoning about why the event could make your service relevant now. It is labelled as ours, never presented as the business’s words or wishes.

Unknown

What we could not confirm.

For example the current provider, the budget or who signs. Unknowns stay visible so you can ask the right first question.

4. Quality tiers.

The tier describes how directly you can reach the person who decides and how good the timing is; the underlying record is the same kind of official record in every tier.

Signal: a real organization, its building or business, and an open official record — but the contact we can give is limited to the owner entity or its mailing address, or the timing is past ideal. Verified: everything in Signal, plus a business contact route we verified ourselves (for example the building’s managing agent’s phone or email, taken from that company’s own website) and fresh timing. Premium: everything in Verified, plus a named decision maker with a direct route, ideal timing and stronger evidence (a second source, several open citations, or a hearing or correction date still ahead). Premium is offered when available; there is none in the beta inventory yet.

Per-opportunity pricing, no subscription: apartment-building pest control Signal $20 · Verified $50 · Premium $85; commercial roofing $35 · $95 · $175; fire protection $29 · $95 · $150 (beta, not for sale yet). Pest control for new openings, live: Verified $59 · Strong $79 · High-intent $99 (pilot pricing). See Opportunity Intelligence pricing and real anonymized examples.

5. Freshness.

An event that was a good reason to call last week may not be one next quarter. Every opportunity carries a freshness state. For violation-based records it is measured from the citation date; for openings, from when we found the record.

NEW
3 days or less. The timing reason is at its strongest.
CURRENT
30 days or less. Still within the window where the event is plausibly relevant.
AGING
60 days or less. The window is closing. Re-check the situation before you reach out.
STALE
Likely past the useful window. The fact remains true, but its timing value is low.
EXPIRED
Past its useful window and no longer offered.

6. Buyer cap.

Each opportunity can be unlocked by at most three companies in the same trade. Opportunities are not exclusive by default; exclusivity is offered only on Premium, where it is offered at the moment of unlock.

7. What we never claim.

8. Individuals’ residential records are not sold.

Opportunities concern businesses and commercial properties. We do not sell records about individuals’ homes. Where a public filing names a person, for example the owner on a business registration, we use only what is needed to identify the business and its contact path.

9. Opt-out and corrections.

A business that does not want to appear in Opportunity Intelligence can ask to be removed: email blake@hammerlinegrowth.com with the business name and address. We suppress it from future opportunities and keep only the minimal record needed to honor the request. To report a factual error, use the reporting option on the opportunity or email the record reference and the correction. See also the privacy policy.
